Worrying is easy; we all have things to worry about. When we are not able to make any difference about something; we spend our time worrying about it. We give our thoughts, time and emotions and yet we still fail to make any progress through it.

Constant worrying, negative thinking and expecting a worse in every situation is not good for emotional and physical health. In order to stop worrying for good, you need to give up the belief that worrying serves the positive purpose because it’s not.

Here are 13 best tips to manage your worries:

Try not to waste time on un-important things

Don’t waste your time thinking on the situations that might happen, but in reality are unlikely to happen. By doing this you are not just only misusing your brain but also time.

Majority of the time you spend thinking on un-important things that doesn’t even happen, so why should you waste your time thinking about it? Take a deep breath and let go things that are not in your control.

Don’t lie yourself that worry is always helpful

Don’t lie to yourself that worrying will always solve your problem, because it won’t help you even a little bit. You only making a fool of yourself by thinking that you are actually doing ‘something’ about a problem.

There is a big difference between worrying and thoughtful planning. Worry is thinking about trouble things that might happen but generally worry doesn’t help troubling situation. Thoughtful planning and taking action over troubling situation will definitely help.

Learn to accept uncertainty

Negative moods increase worrying. Negative moods make you feel down, you don’t feel like to do anything. It includes anxiety, guilt, shame, anger and sometimes tiredness also.

Try to be happy in a worrying state by being busy in things. Do things you like, spend time with people you love. Go on walk, laugh more, play more, interact with new people. When you try to be happy you give less thoughts to worrying.

Manage your worry

If by worrying, you are able to come with the solution but sometimes it goes out of control, then be smart and manage your worry.

You can set a specific time of a day to give it to your worries and after that specific time try to soothe yourself, just to back into balance. Doing this you can manage your worry and also won’t let worrying affect you.

Change “What if…?” worries to “How can I…?” worries

You need to understand the difference between the “What if…?” worries to “How can I…?” worries, to be able to manage your worries,. “What if worries” can puts negative thoughts in your mind and make you tense about the situation. Instead of thinking “What if” change it to “How can I” because it is more likely to lead you to possible solution.

(Ex: “What if I could not fulfill my boss expectations towards me on this project?” Worry into “How can I fulfill my boss expectations towards me on this project”)

Talk about your worries

It may seem like the simplest solution, but discussing your worries with someone who cares about you and listen you without judging/criticizing you is one of the most effective ways to calm your worries.

Talking about your worries help you to find out how much important they are. Are they really threatening or you just wasting your time by continually thinking about them?

Keeping your worries to yourself won’t help you. It’s always better to share your worries with love ones so you can deal with it more effectively.

Don’t lose sleep by worrying

When these types of situations occur, people find it hard to sleep. They keep worrying over the situations they can’t control and ended up losing their sleep because of worrying.

One solution for this is to keep a pen and paper with you and write down all your worries on that paper, by doing it you can transfer all your worries to that piece of paper. You won’t need to remember it now and be in stress. You can deal with it next day.

Enjoy the present

Spending all your time worrying about the things that might happen in the future means that you spend your time worrying and forget to enjoy what happens in the moment.

Know your worries but don’t let it control your mind. Try to focus on present like enjoying the weather, walking in a park, watching TV, reading a book etc.

Find some good news

Try to find good in everything. Don’t give your thoughts to bad news, it won’t help. Always try to see good news in everything. Make it a daily routine of your life.

Whenever you see something bad that makes you feel bad about yourself then try to remember all the good things you have already done and try to lift your mood. Life is very small, don’t spend it with regrets. Love yourself. 

Be what you want to be

Be what you want to be. Don’t let others tell you what you are good at and what you are not good at. Work hard and play by your own rules.

If you start thinking what others will think about it, you will only worry and stress yourself. Don’t do it. Achieve small things and then hit for big. Work hard until you don’t get it and one day your hard work will pay off.

Meditation is not just good for your health but also a need of this era which is full off worries and anxiety. It can help you feel relax and live a happy present moment instead of thinking about your worries.

There are different ways of meditation some of them are concentration meditation and mindfulness meditation.

Concentration meditation helps you focusing on a single point. In this form of meditation, you focus on a chosen object of attention each time you notice your mind wandering. Instead of focusing on random thoughts, you let them go. This process helps you to improve your ability to concentrate.

Mindfulness meditation encourages you to observe the wandering thoughts as they flow through the mind. The intentions are not to get involved with the thoughts but to be aware of each mental note as it arises.

In this form of meditation, you can see how yours thoughts and feelings tend to move in your mind. With time, you will become more aware of human tendency to quickly judge an experience as good or bad. This process helps you to improve your inner balance develops.

Get up and get moving

Get up and get moving can be challenging when you are suffering from wariness and anxiety. But believe me, it’s worth doing it. You feel better when you go out and meet new people or busy yourself in your some work.

Go take a walk, hit the gym or do something you like. Just don’t sit and stress yourself by worrying because it won’t help you.
